The Franco-German early-stage venture capital company dedicated to B2B tech start-ups, Hi Inov Dentressangle, has signed the PRI (Principles for Responsible Investment). The company thus reaffirmes its commitment to integrating ESG criteria into its investment processes. Hi Inov will promote digital energy efficiency as a key element of its PRI action.
Paris, December 1, 2022 – As part of its ongoing efforts to promote sustainable investments, Hi Inov announced it signed the United Nations-backed Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI).
The PRI is an investor initiative in partnership with UNEP Finance and the UN Global Compact, that brings together asset managers, investors and service providers to work together to put responsible investment into practice. These principles, to which signing parties commit voluntarily, aim to provide a framework for integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria into investment decisions and shareholder practices.
Hi Inov’s co-founder and CEO, Valérie Gombart, stresses the importance of adhering to the PRI to shape her role as a responsible investor: « As investors, we have the responsibility to explore all ESG issues; this is crucial, as they can have an impact on the financial performance of our portfolio companies. We are convinced that strong ESG propositions correlate with higher returns while reducing risk. This commitment is fully aligned with our investment philosophy. Becoming a PRI signatory reinforces our determination to consider these criteria from the beginning of our investment process. It is also in line with our objective to help our investments grow while addressing the biggest challenge of our century, i.e. global warming. »
Hi Inov is therefore committed to implementing the six principles of responsible investment. Among them, Hi Inov will focus on pursuing its commitment to promoting the energy efficiency of digital applications in its portfolio companies. The digital sector accounts for no less than 3% to 4% of the world’s carbon footprint (The Shift Project), which is constantly increasing.
Through the three main stages of its investment lifecycle (pre-investment, holding, exit), Hi Inov team helps companies rethink their technical structures and adopt low-energy development practices from the beginning. Hi Inov then undertakes to share this ambition, tools and best practices with its peers and the LPs in the network formed by the charter’s signatories.
